Project Docs — Docs+ prototype

Snapshot of the project record · Sat Oct 24, 2026 · The work layer from the Oct 21 redevelopment report, Phase 1: read-only views over structured records.

Prototype

Self-contained demo. Docs itself is unchanged — this sits beside it so you can compare.

The same record, two ways of seeing it

Nothing below is new information. Every item already exists somewhere in Docs today — the difference is whether you have to go and read it, or whether the record can answer on its own.

Today

Docs is a library

25 documents

You open one and read it. The project's state — what's live, what's waiting, what was decided — lives in prose, spread across the Changelog, Publish Status, Ideas, Roadmap, Daily Agenda, and Time Card.

  • To answer “what's waiting on me?” you read several documents and piece it together.
  • To answer “what shipped today?” you read the Changelog and count by hand.
  • Decisions are recorded after the fact, in the document that happened to carry them.

The prototype

The same record, as structured items

3 generated views — Today · Boards · Decisions

Each item is one record — title, lane, status stage, date, note — and the three views below are generated from those records. Nobody re-types anything: in the real Docs+, these regenerate from the living sources at every publish.

  • Today answers what's live, what's awaiting your word, and what shipped — on one screen.
  • Boards lays the whole pipeline out in the unified Status Key order.
  • Decisions keeps every ruling in one dated log, newest first.

Your command view: what's live, what's waiting on your word, and what shipped today.

Live now

Every surface, as the record stands on Sat Oct 24, 2026 — the Publish Status document, answered without opening it.

Awaiting the Director's word

Built, verified, or captured — each of these moves only on a ruling from Ben. In today's Docs these are scattered across agendas, ideas, and chat rooms.

Shipped today — Sat Oct 24
